The entrepreneurship in the Philippines plays an important role in the country as it empowers its people, enhances production and motivates innovation.

We know that it’s not that easy to be a successful entrepreneur and believe it or not, many of the well-known business tycoons from almost everywhere came from rags to riches. However, their stories of success can somehow inspire other entrepreneurs to do business.

It’s not a secret that there’s no shortcut to a business success. It is a fact that determination and hard work is just two of the keys to establish a name in the business world. Just like the owner of SM, one of the biggest companies in the country, Mr. Henry Sy who is an example of a person who struggled before gaining his networks.

Here is a list of Top Seven Successful Businesses in the Philippines as enumerated by tycoon.ph:

Famous for its tagline “We got it all for you!” This company owned by Henry Sy is one of the biggest companies in our country. It is an establishment that serves as retail centers of various brands of clothes, footwear, bags, accessories, toys, gadgets, and other types of products. Filipinos seem to bite into its concept as it serves as one stop shop for everything that they need.

2. National Book Store, Inc.

I have bought most of my book collections from the company as they provide the newest and the widest variety of book titles, may it be local or international. It currently has 128 branches all over the Philippines which proves that this business is successful. In addition to that, they are also known for providing their buyers/clients wide array of choices for school and office supplies which is evidently a necessity to almost everyone

MERALCO which stands for Manila Electric Railroad and Light Company is a well-known electric company here in the Philippines, and the largest distributor of electrical power. It holds the distribution franchise of 22 cities and 89 municipalities.

Ayala Corporation is one of the biggest and well-known companies here in the Philippines founded by Casa Roxas and Antonio de Ayala. Ayala Corporation owns one of the country’s largest banks, Bank of the Philippine Islands. They also own one of the country’s top telecommunication networks, Globe Telecom.

Jollibee is one of the most popular food chain here in the Philippines with more than 2,500 stores worldwide. Jollibee started only as an ice cream parlor but the owner has dreamed and wanted more. Tony Tan, the founder, traveled to United States to study how the market works for food chains. Instead of franchising other food chains, he expanded his own hamburger-serving fast food named Jollibee. Today, the business is still going strong and is still one of the most well-known fast food chains in the Philippines.

 

6. Philippine Airlines

Philippine Airlines is one of the oldest commercial airlines in Asia operating under its original name. The owner, Lucio Tan, has held the title as the richest man in the Philippines for so long until his rival, Henry Sy, overtook his throne.

 

7. GMA Network, Inc.

GMA Network Inc. is very popular in the Philippines since it is one of the major commercial television networks and radio networks. It is formerly known as DZBB TV Channel 7, RBS TV Channel 7, GMA Radio-Television Arts, and then GMA Rainbow Satellite Network. This TV channel has been here for so long that almost all people who watch television know them.

For the industry, the Philippines’ manufacturing sector is quite good. The demand of products gets stronger mostly for petroleum products and electronics. The country is rich in mineral resource and one of the largest exporter of coconut oil and sugar because these are the main agricultural products including rice and corn.

 

With the modern and creative Filipinos, Philippines has a very interesting livelihood. There you could taste the different class and flavor of pastillas, nice and attractive recyclable materials like bags and accessories and colorful handicrafts. The usual cover of the country’s livelihood programs are those out of school youth, inmates, and other people who can’t have a stable job.

If we study the wide and exciting livelihood and economy of our country the Philippines, I’m sure we are not left behind and still, fighting!

Filipinos gives value about the progression of their lives. All of them treasure every centavo they have, thinking that it can be a million someday. Many are persistent to have their diplomas wearing the black gown, and be one of people whose now holds their success.
